Activities 2019

I start the report of this year’s activities with something a little different – SSTV pictures captured from the International Space Station by Gary 2E0FYR. Following a reminder from Phil M6HNO, Gary had a listen to a couple of passes of the ISS at the beginning of April and obtained these pictures.

The passes weren’t particularly high or long from Gary’s location and so there is a lot of noise on the pictures as well as several pictures being curtailed. Gary was using an Icom 746 and a 2/70 Collinear (i.e. a ‘white stick’) at 30 ft. He connected to his computer with a Digimaster Pro digital interface and was running MM-SSTV using PD50 decoding.

We had several /P evenings, took part in the RSGB 80m Club Call contest, set up a station for Churches on the Air and assisted with radiocommunications at the Cragg Challenge in October.

In the RSGB 80m Club Call contest – which started in February and finished at the end of July – we finished 12th out of 39 clubs in the General Clubs section, one place lower than 2018. Thanks to Geoff G0PFH/P, Ken G0ITI, Richard G3UGF, Jasmine G4KFP, Martin M0GQB, John M0JPA, Gary 2E0FYR, Colin 2E0HQJ, Richard 2E0MWT, George 2E0GFI, Chris M6IJT and Dean M6XUT for their efforts.
